Geometria Nova
Helmut Federle, John M. Armleder, Matt Mullican, Gerwald Rockenschaub
March 13 - May 04, 1986
“(...)(T)he work of the two Swiss Helmut Federle and John M. Armleder, the American Matt Mullican and the Austrian Gerwald Rockenschaub documents only four different attitudes within an abstraction that has become more prominent again since the 1980s. (...)
Their interest is focused on exploring and making visible the possibilities of a pictoriality that corresponds to the postmodern condition of our techno-world that has become intangible. As the philosopher François Lyotard frighteningly demonstrated in his epochal exhibition ‘Les Immateriaux’ (the world of immaterialities) last year in Paris, the flood of messages (divided into sender, code, carrier, receiver) produced by techno-science, which can no longer be controlled by the individual, takes the place of one's own perception. As a result, things lose their previous credibility. They are 'no longer taken at face value.’”
