A Call for Help from the Kunstverein
The Kunstverein München, which has existed for
127 years, for a long time as the largest association of
friends of the art and artists in Germany, is in dire
straits. Its exhibition building on Galeriestraße was lost
in the war; private sacrifices by its second chairman
have so far made it possible to maintain exhibition
rooms in the Zügel studio at Possartstraße 24 (Bogenhausen).
The art association, which formerly owned a
Spitzweg, Defregger, Grützner, Hans Thoma, Schleich,
and Lenbach, and which still counts about 300 painters
and sculptors among its members, now turns to the
City Council with an urgent appeal for help.
