Coinciding with Annika Eriksson's current exhibition and order at Kunstverein München, this screening revisits Arbeitswelt (2003), commissioned for the artist's first solo presentation at the institution twenty-three years ago. Originally shown as a three-channel video installation from 11 to 23 October 2003, Arbeitswelt is presented here in a 50-minute single-channel version.

Arbeitswelt was filmed at the Munich offices of the reinsurance company Swiss Re in autumn 2002. Shortly after acquiring the Munich-based reinsurer Bayerische Rück, the company relocated its employees to a newly completed glass headquarters, whose architecture reflected the corporate ideals of transparency and openness prevalent at the time. The piece comprises interviews with 55 employees, who were invited by Eriksson to show their favourite spot in the new building and reflect on what the idea of 'security' means to them. Together, these conversations form a perceptive portrait of a workplace in transition, where institutional change is encountered less through official narratives than through the voices and everyday observations of those living through it.

The screening will be followed by a conversation between Annika Eriksson and the curator and writer Juliette Desorgues.

Juliette Desorgues is a curator and writer based in Paris. With a background in art history and theory from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Vienna, and University College London, she has worked internationally as a curator both independently and within institutions. From 2019 to 2021 she served as Curator at MOSTYN, Llandudno, Wales and from 2013 to 2017 as Associate Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. She has also held curatorial roles at the Barbican Art Gallery, London and Generali Foundation, Vienna. As a writer she has published widely, for monographs as well as publications including Art Basel Stories, Art Monthly, Frieze, Mousse and Spike. She sits on the Board of the Jacqueline de Jong Foundation.
