Gustav Landauer Fanboy Text

“On July 30, 2020, I book a guided tour about Gustav Landauer in Munich. At that time, I am already a fanboy.

In the early spring before, I have already bought Landauer’s Skepsis und Mystik – Versuche im Anschluss an Mauthner’s Sprachkritik. Selected Writings, Volume 7. I still haven’t read it completely, but parts of it I’m sure I’ve read five or more times. Durch Absonderung zur Gemeinschaft, Das Individuum als Welt, and Die Welt als Zeit. I just started Sprache als Instrument (Language as an instrument). One month ago. Or maybe two. All in all, lots of joy, many lines. I have to start again and again. Maybe my brain works poorly or too slowly. Maybe school damaged my brain. Maybe I just don’t understand much. Whereas, when my brain fails, I often have the most fun. And as with all my favorite authors, there is an almost insurmountable gap in Gustav Landauer’s work, which must remain insurmountable forever. Only flashy exceptions sometimes.

As a new fanboy, I am of course completely nervous before the city tour. What if the other anarchists do not like me? I have no idea what to wear—sneakers or can I wear the goodyear-welted shoes that I wear as a shoe salesman for Lohnarbeit? Should I wear a shirt for once? I finally go with a rather uninspired classic all-black outfit and sandals—like always on hot summer days.”

Limited capacity; please register for the event via info@kunstverein-muenchen.de.
