Dispositiv Workshop, part 5

Girls are, Ruth Kaaserer

September 10 - September 12, 2004

Since February 2004 the artist Ruth Kaaserer (Munich / Vienna) has been working with a group of young women aged 16 to 20 on a project, which deals with the media representation of girls in Munich's public sphere. The result is a video that in the form of a game show questions the public young women. The show is moderated by two of the participants and is only similar to common TV shows on a formal level. The typical elements, for example, a studio, studio guests and clips are used in a playful manner and made strange in order to break young women's stereotypical roles, which are prescribed by society Included in the show are, amongst other things. interviews with the coordinators of Münchner Mädchenarbeit (Munich Girlswork) and a specially produced song. From conception to realisation, the whole project is a collaborative process.

Girls are is the fifth part of the project series Dispositive Workshop, where artists are invited to realize projects in collaboration with a group of people from Munich.
