Key Operators
Talk: Sadie Plant
Wednesday, October 23
7pm
Sadie Plant will give a lecture on her seminal Zeros + Ones (1997). Plant showed how the “zeros and ones of machine code seem to offer themselves as perfect symbols of the orders of Western reality,” in that they epitomize a binary world where “[e]verything depends on [women’s] complicity,” yet women are reduced to an object of transaction between men, “never tak[ing] part as subjects” in the “reproduction of the social order.” [1]
The lecture will be held in English.
