THE ARCHIVE AS … SLIPPAGES
Contribution by Joshua Leon
from June, ongoing
Joshua Leon is an artist, writer, and poet. He spends his time wandering through the archive in search of the “all but hidden,” a term borrowed from a lost colleague Z.S. aka The Archive Thief. For THE ARCHIVE AS …, Leon will slip annotations into the archive on view which ask questions of its function, pathology, and misnomers. These annotations are intended to be found by way of one’s own wandering in the archive and invite visitors to make unnatural connections within. They set the tone for a larger consideration, that of thinking about the ways in which an archive can be altered, making transparent the potential for subjectivities such as the so-called “degenerate” in order to find a way to speak back within spaces they were historically excluded from or made subject by.
