THE ARCHIVE AS ... LOSING REVERANCE
Screening and conversation with Onyeka
Wednesday, June 7
6pm
Onyeka Igwe is an artist and researcher. For her, the body, archives, and narratives—both oral and textual—act as a mode of inquiry that make possible the exposition of overlooked histories. With close attention to dissonance and amplification between image and sound, she reveals that what is said and what we see do not always align. Her work A So-Called Archive addresses colonial issues of archiving and what forms of knowledge processes of archiving reproduce as well what has been lost in the archive. As part of the exhibition, Igwe will present the work and discuss her practice in relation to her interest in archival research.
