Talk: Noah Barker
A long wave with an undertone of expansion
Saturday, September 10
4pm
The talk, A long wave with an undertone of expansion, by artist Noah Barker takes the form of a ‘ride’ on a long wave of digressions. The year of the Munich Olympics is entered through several different coinciding events as if one long series of interconnected ‘carves.’ The 22 pages of Otl Aicher’s Munich Olympics design program enabled the homogeneous visual identity to be implemented across thousands of objects, extending a systematicity to the event along with difference. The flexibility of the design program, as well as the urban planning ideas of Aicher, will be placed on the cusp of a breaking wave formed by managerial, political, and economic events and theory.
The talk accompanies Tony Cokes’s solo exhibition, Fragments, or just Moments.
