Membership of the Kunstverein München
Kunstverein München is one of the oldest 'art associations' of its kind in Germany. Founded in 1823, and located in the historical arcades of the Hofgarten, the Kunstverein remains an essential part of Munich's art scene and continues to gain international recognition as an innovative platform for contemporary art and discourse.
Kunstverein München operates internationally with consideration of the local context through a diverse program of exhibitions, lectures, artist's talks, film screenings, art travels for members, symposia and publications. Here, you'll meet other open-minded people in an environment that is challenging, stimulating, and fun.
To be a member of Kunstverein München is to take a participatory position – a stance held by more than 1,300 members who insist upon the advancement of culture in Munich, and whose engagement safeguards a critical and discursive platform of contemporary art from economic or political concessions.
Membership fees as of 2023:
Regular Membership: 90 EUR p.a.
Partner / Family Membership: 135 EUR p.a.
(for two persons sharing a residence)
Reduced Membership: 20 EUR p.a.
(for students, artists & the unemployed)
As a member of Kunstverein München you enjoy the following advantages:

- • Invitations to all exhibition openings with an introduction by the director and curator
- • Free admission to all events (screenings, performances, lectures, artist talks etc.)
- • Free admission to all Kunstvereine in Germany associated with ADKV (over 300 institutions)
- • The ability to purchase limited editions and Jahresgaben at special rates
- • Access to local and international art travels
- • Invitation and free admission to special events (studio visits in Munich, etc.)
- • Right to vote at the annual general meeting – your vote counts!
Please note that the membership fee is always charged for a full calendar year. If you join during the current year, the full membership fee will still apply. On January 1, your membership will automatically renew for the current calendar year.
