In 2018, the work in the Kunstverein archive intensified in view of the 200th anniversary, coming up five years later. Countless images from the City Archive were scanned and uploaded to the website or contextualized in the newly initiated Archive Newsletter. In order to sift through the miscellaneous material, organize it, dust off books, record documents, look through photos, or photograph posters, the running exhibition program was paused in the fall of this year. The Kunstverein’s spaces were used to sort through the physical archive and present it in its (almost) full extent.
Please join us on Tuesday November 20th at 7pm for a public tour, where archivist Theresa Bauernfeind and the rest of the Team will offer insights into Kunstverein München’s history, tell you about the development of the archival work, and present a selection of favorite objects and documents from 195 years of exhibition making and discourse.
