Atelier Europa, ein kleines postfordistisches Drama
exhibition architecture from the former furniture inventory of the Münchener Rückversicherungsgesellschaft
03 April – 13 June 2004
Under the title Atelier Europa, the artist, curator, and researcher Marion von Osten organized an exhibition and symposium at the Kunstverein togethers with its members of staff, in spring 2004, which examined the living and working conditions of cultural producers in Europe in the course of economic privatization and economization of the social. Ethnic and gender-specific inequalities in regard to opportunities and positions in the cultural sector were at the center of the discussion. The meeting and the exhibition in Munich aimed to connect diverse European positions.
In the context of the project-based exhibition, the film Kamera läuft! (Camera Rolling!) Was produced by the group kpD (kleines postfordistisches Drama, little post-Fordist drama), which included Brigitta Kuster, Isabelle Lorey, and Katja Reichard in addition to Marion von Osten. The film is based on interviews with cultural producers in Berlin who used an updated list of questions from militant workers’ self-assessments in nineteen- sixties Italy.
