Graphik, Dokumente, Tonbildschau
(Goya in the crisis of his time.
Graphics, documents, audio-visual show)
January 15 - March 01, 1981
The thematic exhibition included in 184 sheets the three graphic cycles “Los Caprichos”, “Los desastres de la guerra” and “Los Disparatos”. The exhibition was lent by the Graphische Sammlung of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the private collector Franz A. Morat from Freiburg.
The exhibition, compiled by the Munich art historian Rainer Burbach M.A. and previously on view at the Württembergischer Kunstverein, was newly assembled for the presentation and supplemented by an accompanying program. It was divided into seven chapters: Goya's beginnings in printmaking, Goya's first independent original etching, “Los Caprichos”, “Los desastres de la guerra” and “Los Disparatos”, bullfight scenes, last etchings from 1825 to 1827. A bilingual audio-visual show on the complete works of Goya served as a supplement.
