Masterpieces
New State Gallery Munich at the Kunstverein Munich
June 28 - September 6, 1956
Exhibition hung by Ernst Buchner from the holdings of the Staatsgemäldesammlung. Their rooms were needed for a large drawing art exhibition.
“Since paintings also depend on light, they come to new effect in the Galeriestraße, such as Manet's ‘Breakfast in the Studio’. In its natural grace and closeness to life, the picture seems at the same time like a wonderful harmony of gray and black, floating outside of space and time in the 'nowhere' of the great work of art.” (Fritz Nemitz in the Süddeutsche Zeitung)
