Jeremy Deller
15 October to 27 November 2005
At the intersection between the roles of the artist, the curator, and the producer, Jeremy Deller (London, *1966) works on a broad range of projects that consistently transgress the borders between high, popular and folk culture. Deller’s interest is aimed at the 'local histories', the creative and subversive potentials that live in the practices of the everyday beyond institutionalized forms of cultural recognition.
Kunstverein München hosts the world-wide first extensive solo show of Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller (2005), presenting works that have been produced between the years 1993 and 2005: from early poster works (1993) and the fan project 'The Uses of Literacy' (1998), to the monumental re-enactment of the miners strike of 1984/85 in 'The Battle of Orgreave' (2001/2004).
